How much does gold weigh? China has the most gold medals so it's no surprise that it's top of CCTV's rankings and first on the China Daily's. Yet NBC and the New York Times both rank China second, behind the U.S. As confusing as Metric vs. Standard/Imperial? Yes. Apparently, China and the rest of the world rank nations according to number of gold medals, whereas the U.S. ranks nations based on overall medal count.
